Jean-François de Blanchetti set up his gallery in 1991 in the heart of what is the largest and arguably the most prestigious quartier of antique shops and galleries in the world - Le Carré Rive Gauche in Paris. From this immense emporium just a few meters from the Seine, Galerie Blanchetti trades in decorative arts of the 20th century, and more specifically in the years 1950-1970.
The principal criteria of selection at Galerie Blanchetti is simplicity, proportions and purity - in a word, the harmony of a piece. The gallery is also sensitive to the power a piece of furniture or object can evoke - such as the refined Nordic elegance which conjures up images of Denmark or the audacious Modernist style which suggests Italy of the Dolce Vita.
Last, but not least, the gallery attaches a particular importance to textures, materials and colours. Marble, plaster, ceramics, opaline, rattan and bamboo associated with light textiles all blend into a harmonious contrast at Galerie Blanchetti. If the gallery had to have a motto, it would be: Less is more.Seating
